Distinguished in Excellence and Education Award Recipients

2024 Recipient: Sharon Guebert, OTR, CHT

Sharon Guebert, OTR, earned her BA in Occupational Therapy in 1983 from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She started her career at Easter Seals in Ft. Worth, Texas. She then worked in Burn Rehab for Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas for 3 years where she co-authored an article for the Journal of Burn Rehabilitation. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1987 and started her career as a Hand Therapist, earning her CHT in 1991. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Augustine in Austin, Texas and has worked for The Hand Center, HealthSouth, Select Physical Therapy and currently for Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation where she specializes in hand therapy, burn rehabilitation, cancer care rehabilitation and wound care. She has been in clinical practice for 41 years. She enjoys being a fieldwork educator for Level II OTS students and has spoken on various topics for the Texas Society for Hand Therapy Annual Conferences. She has served as the co-conference coordinator for the 2021 and 2022 TSHT Education Conferences.
